Where can I find maternity pads/ sanitary towels?

Have been advised (on here!) not to use regular ultra-absorbant sanitary towels as the chemicals inside which allow them to be so absorbant won't necessarily be very kind to a torn and stitched fanjo.
In the past I used maternity towels but now cannot find them. Have looked in:
Sainsburys
John Lewis Nursery dept
smallish Boots
local chemist

Do I need to go to Mothercare?? Where can they be bought?

tesco, boots, mothercare and sainsburies all have them here

but personally I'd go for ultra absorbent sanitary towels with wings!

Tescos have them

Pixiefish · 15/11/2006 17:50

I bought the first lot in Toys R Us then local Boots/Tesco

lulumama · 15/11/2006 17:51

boots, mothercare, asda , tesco

boots do a slim one...

toys r us or mothercare should always have some.
if you dont see any on the shelf i would ask, as i found there was always an empty space as they went so quick.. they normally always have a healthy supply. and boots obv.

I just used thicker more traditional towels - much cheaper than maternity ones.

even Tesco or Sainsbury's "value" are pretty good (16p for 10!)

will look at Sainsburys again then. I just assumed I'd find some at home but am going to have to look harder next time I go into the 'big town' again.

Are you looking by the other sanitary products as they might be by the mother and baby type stuff instead ? You know - by the breast pads, cotton wool and stuff

cupcakes · 15/11/2006 19:59

thanks Betty - I have been looking in both places.

I got mine from the baby aisle in Tesco, they're underneath the bottles and dummies, etc!!

firsttimemama · 15/11/2006 20:14

My Boots had them but I used night time towels with wings - fanjo was fine (1 stitch)

BettySpaghetti · 15/11/2006 20:57

Sorry cupcakes -hope my post didn't come across as me treating you as "thicko" . Didn't mean it to

Philomena · 15/11/2006 21:07

I much, much, much preferred the pads with wings. I hardly used my maternity pads...
