Can anyone recommend a forward-facing car seat (non-Isofix) for a an Audi A6 estate? I'm struggling to find one - none of the Britax or Maxi-Cosi ones fit.

We've got an Audi A6 estate and we have the Britax First Class and it fits ok ... rearward and forward facing.

That's interesting. I went to Halfords yesterday and the lady who tried fitting various seats said there was no way she could get that to fit because the seatlbelt was too short. I think I'll go to a different branch and try again.

Sorry, I was being dim. The one at Halfords was the Eclipse Si, not the First Class. I'l see if I can track that one down somewhere.

I have an A6 saloon and have had the maxi-cosi (rodi and SP) fitted with no problems.

We used to hav an A6 and fitted the maxi cosi priori xp in fine.

I'm so baffled by this. Have I got defective seatbelts? I've tried 2 branches of Halfords now, and neither could get any seat (except a discontinued Recaro one that was out of stock) to fit.

I'll try another branch and hope for 3rd time lucky.

really don't understand it as our britax doesn't even use much seat belt in forward facing mode. Have you looked on the car seat websites and tried to see if they SHOULD fit, then at least you know if it's your car ...

hermykne · 17/11/2006 18:40

maxi cosi fits ours (for ds) as does does dd's britax booster (just got that about a month ago)

hermykne · 17/11/2006 18:41

what yr is the car?

Hi Emma - do I know you in RL? Did you ask me this on Thursday because you know I have an Audi?

You didn't say you used this site when I mentioned the meet up on Saturday!

If it wasn't you, then my advice to the person I did have this conversation with was to get isofix retro fitted, and then get the Britax duo plus isofix.

Hi, have fitted seats to an A6 on a few occaisions, we sell mostly Recaro at our shop and they usually fit v well.

The Young Sport model is quite a good one and will last until about age 10-12 when you take out the 5 point harness after its outgrown.

Not sure about retro fitting isofix to Audis but you definately can on Volvos. Call your local Audi dealer to find out (you may need to ring round, some dealers have hopeless individuals answering the phone who don't care to find out for you).

You can retro fit isofix to Audis (though may depend on age, obviously) as we had it done (2003 model), as did another friend.

Problem solved. Spoke to Audi today. It seems that there are only 2 seats that wil fit my car, both Recaro ones (and both v.expensive, one coming with MP3 headphone sockets - why do I need that?). Going to go tomorrow and get one.

CSWS - yes, it was me! I hadn't used this site very much recently, but talking to you about the meet up reminded me that it was here.
