Hornby / model trains experts / enthusiasts

are there any train experts / enthusiasts out there? I want to buy a polar express train to run on hornby track. the only ones currently available are in the us. Given the different power currents we have, will it be possible to run these trains on the uk track without much trouble. And can they be chipped to work with the digital controllers?

Ho (us) 00(uk) run on the same track and don't worry about the voltage as they both run on 12v anyway so you will have no probs running it and yes they can be chipped. The only problem you will have is if you have HORNBY points or crossovers they are set for 00 any hornby straight or curve is fine to use you need PECO points or crossovers as they are set slightly lower (you need to put one by the other to see the difference). I found this out when I started building my US layout.

thank you both - mumlove I can see I have quite a bit of reading up to do before I start stockpiling model railway pieces. just really want to make sure that when we give ds or even dds the train track that it is more than just an oval with a siding.
