I am looking to buy an mpv to accommodate our growing family, the endless baggage and children's friends etc who sometimes need transporting.
I am hoping to get a big mpv which has 6 or 7 decent sized seats. Most of the MPVs we looked at have very small seats in the 3rd row and very poor access to get into them and won't really suit our family.
We are considering the ssanyong rodius (not sure about the brand), the ford galaxy (not the best looking car) and the vw sharan. Have we missed anything in the same sort of price brackets?
If you have a big mpv would you recommend it?

I am thankful to have a Land Rover Discovery. 7 seats and a wonderful car. Hate MPVs with a passion! They are vans with seats and are mostly unpleasant to drive. Cheap maybe, but largely nasty too.

I agree that MPVs are not pretty and I will be probably feeling quite down on handover day when I drop off my current car (which I love) and collect my new bus like Vehicle. I couldn't however stretch to a landrover discovery as it is about twice the price of the Sharan. Landrover also has quite a bad record for reliability although I don't know if things have changed in the last decade. I don't know if I could justify driving a landrover around town either as most of my driving is around town and I spent a lot of time sitting in traffic. I would be the typical Chelsea tractor driver if I bought a landrover. I suppose when most of us buy an MPV we have to buy it purely on Space and practicality and not on its sharp appearance. I will be driving DH saloon car whenever I don't need to ferry around the family.

Another happy Sharan owner here. It's a great drive, plenty of power but good fuel economy.

It's big enough without feeling too bus-like. Space-wise it does our family of six very well. We've had a Zafira and Grand Scenic in the past, far prefer the Sharan.

I drove a VW Sharan hire car over half term. I hated the electronic parking brake and I wouldn't buy one for that alone.

More and more cars are being made with electronic parking brakes now. I was very unsure about the electronic brake when I went for a test drive but found it surprisingly easy to understand and could appreciate its hill hold function in my very hilly town.
