High summer grobag - essential or a waste of money

DS is 21 months and has used a grobag since he was 6 months old. We have found it to be a godsend since he otherwise continuously kicks of his covers and wakes himself up. We bought a 1 tog gro bag last summer, but not until early June, and found we didn't get much use out of it as we bought it too late and he just had a light sheet over him.

Now, if he a sheet over him, he would play with his toes all night and crawl around his cot.

DH thinks it is a waste of money for a bit of sheet....

DS loves his grobag and smiles when he sees it in his cot.

Any positive/negative tales about the lightweight summer grobags? I am tempted to buy one anyway.....

I have a similar dilemma. My DD is 6 months in July, so which size do I buy? She is a small baby so is it 0-6mths this year or the next size for two summers. I think I will wait till the baby show in 3 weeks and measure her against them.

Seem to have answered my own question and wasn't much help. I will watch though incase people say its a waste of money.

Buy it!

The summer one is fantastic as it has poppers so it extends and lasts longer than the 2.5 tog one (until age 3).

I am nervous about my DS ever going to sleep once he grows out of them!

popsy ds1 is 29 months and I've only ever used the high summer grobag for naps and holidays abroad (I'm trying to think what we did last summer, think we must have used the one tog - I don't remember it being all that warm here!)
He's still in his 6-18 month winter grobag and I think I'm goign to start using a duvet soon as don't want to fork out for the larger size...

I used mine all last summer for dd, but then it was a hot summer. Found it invaluable. Am going to buy another for this summer.

Hmmm ... interesting! As a recent convert, I bought a 2.5 tog for now and 1.0 tog for summer as our house is pretty warm too. Now, after a copule of leaky nappies during the night and having to shove grobag in the drier (as the 1.0 tog hasn't arrived yet), I'm going to buy another 2.5 tog as a back up for the colder nights ... that doesn't answer your question does it? Anyway, hoping to get use out of the 1.0 tog for the next few months and think they're worth every penny!!

Yeah he can cover himself up - but doesn't.
Once he has discovered his toes are out, he will sit up and play with them....then we have hours of him reciting his whole vocabulary repetoire in the middle of the night
'car, juice, purple, yellow, Max, Judy, chocolate, car, Dan....' etc etc

you get the idea
anyway - we are back to winter weather so decision is stalled for a bit
