beautysleuth website is good!

wheresthehamster · 10/11/2006 17:49

Don't delay - just get them!

Best £85 I've ever spent!

lulumama · 10/11/2006 17:51

agree with wheresthehamster!!! they changed my life!! ( i don;t get out much!!) but honestly...believe the hype and buy theM!!

Bananaknickers · 10/11/2006 17:53

what is so great about these straightners and warrants you spending a lot of money on them ? just asking because I hate my straightners and need to buy a new set

Bananaknickers · 10/11/2006 17:54

tell me the hype

ghosty · 10/11/2006 18:00

Bananaknickers .... they are magic! They WORK! I have had every kind of straightener known to man and 2 weeks ago I became the proud owner of a pair of ghds ... my life will never be the same ... I love them and I fear if there was a fire I would run to get them before running for my children

wheresthehamster · 10/11/2006 18:04

Imagine - you're 50 years old and you have something that your 14 year old daughter wants to borrow. That's how good GHDs are.

Bananaknickers · 10/11/2006 18:06

I am on my 4th pair. I have thick shoulder length hair and I can never get it like the salon

redshoes · 10/11/2006 18:25

How do GHDs differ from other straighteners? I have cheapo ceramic ones and a lot of wavy hair and they don't really work... would GHDs make a difference?

pussycatmomma · 10/11/2006 18:37

Another advocate for ghds here
my hair is very naturally curly and up until the age of 24 (am now 31 & a 1/2) NO-ONE but no-one could tame my frizzy mop. At a salon they worked the tony and guy magic with the ghds, i bought some and (((((lots of fairy dust emoticon))))))) they CHANGED MY HAIR FOREVER!!!!
i have tried many other types, all useless on my hair, but ghds, they do the business. I am on my second pair, much to dh's disgust...."if they broke after 3 years why buy another pair of the same brand???" Of course his Man Thinking was entirely wrong..........
I bought another pair cause they...........
MAKE MY HAIR SILKY AND STRAIGHT WHEN IT IS NATURALLY A BALL OF CURLY FLUFF.
AND I LIKE THEM!
AND I LIKE MY HAIR WHEN IT DOES THIS!!!
XXX happy straightening!

TheHighwayCod · 10/11/2006 18:37

yes hotter
faster smoother

LittleSarah · 10/11/2006 18:37

I don't know why ghds are so much better, but they are.

I had cheapish ones and it tooks so much more work and the effect was never quite as straight as I'd like!

prettymum · 10/11/2006 18:41

now i know what to ask dp to get me for christmas!!

NYceMummy · 10/11/2006 19:49

From a hair product website:

GHD original professional hair straightener heats up to 190 degrees in 7 seconds!
GHD's computer chip technology provides constant even heat monitoring giving you professional hair straighteners with total styling control. As well as ceramic plates this GHD straightening iron has a ceramic heating element which creates a negative ion charge that seals in moisture, natural oils and hair colour.

I think most straighteners don't have the negative ion charge thingy which is kind of like anti-static, so that is why GHDs are better. HTH

Bum, so me spending £20 on el-cheapo ceramic straighteners from Tesco this morning was a bad idea then?

melsy · 10/11/2006 20:15

bloody marvellous , never ever wear my hair straight unless Ive used them, look just like salon straightened hair after a few mins. I havent had to do my hair all week, just one little touch up so to speak . So much better for your hair to leave it like that withought washing and washing over and over to keep it straight and shiny.

lol I sound like an advert.

Theyre my youngest sisters and we share them with my other sister too HUGE saving that way.

NYceMummy · 10/11/2006 21:17

So, do people use "product" on their hair before straightening (-to protect it from the heat)?

angmarie · 11/11/2006 12:11

i got mine off ebay £70

CatBert · 11/11/2006 12:16

It's an INVESTMENT. I have looked around, you are not going to get them for much cheaper than 75quid. I am going to get a pair myself, cause even though I already HAVE a relatively expensive set bought from a salon, which are quite good - they are PANTS in comparison to GHDs. I say this on a hairdresing HIGH, having just come back with the straightest hair EVER (and last time I went, it stayed straight for 3 days - and I was really cross at having to wash it...) My sister also has a pair, and she bought them round. I was sold...

SparklyfestiveYellowFeathers · 11/11/2006 12:21

When I stayed with my mum earlier this year, I used hers. They were so much better than the ones I have.
They made my hair really smooth and unlike mine, you dont have to run them through a zillion times to get rid of kinks.
I'm certainly getting some for xmas.
