I have one of these, and its very upright but im soooooooooo sure I saw one identical to mine but in a reclined position... I daren't go fiddle with mine as ill end up breaking it, and I have no idea where the booklet is

No it doesn't. Perhaps it is their car seat shape is flatter/tilts down which would make it less upright IYSWIM.

Thats the one thing I hate about my carseat, but, I have the whole set and was planning to use it for at least the next baby aswell Pants.

The FAQ of the website suggest you may be able to alter something or maybe the angle of the seat was more inclined .

It may be that you saw it being used without the auto safety base thing so it was at a different angle, but agree it's most likely to do with the shape of the back seat of your car...
