i am thinking of buying an ergo BUT i was wondering how comfortable it would be for a baby to sleep in as there is no head or neck support and although my ds has great head control when awake it lolls about all over the place when he is asleep. how have your lo's got on sleeping in the ergo?

Do you mean the Ergo Baby Carrier. If so get it. My friends have them her and they look absolutely fabulous. You can lie the baby sidewise in the Ergo and then the sleep beautifullly and when older you can use it as a backpack. Looks far better and for we women all the weight carrying is done on the hips not the back.

there's a hood tucked into the zip pocket at the back that pulls out and poppers onto the shoulder straps. the old style was a bit small, but the new one's fine.

have never heard of lying a baby sideways in an ergo before with the insert the feet stick out the side but afaik the head stays at the top.

Could be a different model. I'm in Colorado and my friend uses the insert as her baby is just 8wks old and lies her in head top left and feet out bottom right - it's like being in a sling but far more comfortable. I also disliked the Baby Bjorn I had as the boys had their faces always flattened against my chest, at least this way the baby's more or less lying normally.

Get one, they're fab fab fab. As pd says, there is a support hood thing, I've even used it on my 2yr old to sleep. I'd still be carrying her in it occasionally now (at 2.5) if I weren't pg!
