Hi

I'm considering buying a watch for my dn who will be almost 5 at christmas time.

was wondering about this but would really like advice of mums with boys similar age. would i be better to get a digital one? or is this too young for proper watch?

can you recommend any other ones?

tia

Hi ja9
I have just bought a watch for my DD who will be 5 this month. It seems to be about the right age. There is quite a big range of those 'teaching' watches around, I got one in H Samuels. I think that outer ring with the 5-minute intervals looks good.

two things to consider: would your dn benefit from having a waterproof one? Is he likely to forget it's on and plunge his hand into water?
and if he hasn't got a watch already, would his parents feel sensitive about wanting to be the first to buy him one?

My ds got a watch for his 4th birthday. I'd say about 5 is right for a watch and if you get him a 'cheapy' it doesn't matter so much if it gets lost or damaged.

I think This one is better than the ELC one as it splits the past and to hopefully making it simplier to learn

gosh hovely, i would never have thought about it being a potential sentimental purchase. will check with sil before buying.thanks for pointing that out.

I saw a Timex watch that had a train going around as one of the arms, I didn't buy it as DS was far too young, then changed my mind and have been looking for it ever since....

My ds has a Timex one with a eurofighter type plane going round. Haven't seen one since and we got it in Argos!
