Little touch leappads - are they worth it?

I'm thinking of getting one for dd but am wondering if they're just a gimmick?

i know some people like them but we had one and i didn't rate it tbh you have to keep remembering to press the go button when you turn a page or it doesn't make sense, and kids tend to want to turn the pages back and forth a lot. i think if you read to your kids anyway they learn more from normal abc /colour books etc and singing songs

Didn't work for us,

I was hoping for a versatile travel toy. However, the control really isn't that intuitive - you need to press the green when you turn the page, then the lightbulb to set the level... Dd never really used it 'properly' reliably - it just ends up a really confusing jumble of noises and words.

If I have to supervise her using it I'd rather read a book!
