Those Leapster things - what's your experience of them?

Just wondering whether they are any good. I'm thinking about getting dd one for Christmas, she's 3.6.

Is that the books that talk thing? We have one of those and my two really like it. Only downside is that ds rips the books.

I got one for DS but only when he was 5

I think personally I'd wait until the child was partially reading otherwise its just another expensive electronic gizmo

I agree with Twiglett about the age thing. When we first got ours ds couldn't read and i really don't think he got anything out of it but now they both enjoy using it.

From what I've seen they can practice writing letters and reading numbers etc, but we already do that with puzzles and she has some books that are write on/wipe off that do the job.

We haven't decided on the date yet, it's on the meet ups section.

My 2 enjoy the games and the music parts best. Neither of them really pay much attention to the stories.

I am starting to get the feeling that she can do without unless someone comes along to convince me otherwise! Thanks you two.

I just picked up a My First Leappad and two books in one of our local charity shops for £1.50! Now I can see if she uses it and get her the next one up next Christmas if she does.
