Mobile phone contracts: Best value for calls?

Dh and I have our mobiles on Vodaphone, and have had a brilliant deal on the tariff.

We had an anytime 125 tariff, which gave us 125 anytime minutes, plus something called 'Stop the clock' which meant that we could talk for up to an hour in the evening but only get charged for the first 3 mins, important as dh is working away from home.

We were getting a 50% discount on the tariff (due to negotiations by me 18 months ago) so were paying only 12.50 per month for that.
The contract's ended and they won't just renew with a discount again , so I've got to go for new handsets if I want to renegotiate, or just continue paying full rate (I never pay full rate for stuff like this).

So I need to find other good deals, either to change or use as a lever with Vodaphone.

Do any other companies offer the 'stop the clock' type facility? I haven't heard of any, but haven't been looking, just cos I'd overlooked the contract was coming to an end.

Any advice appreciated. We would be renewing both contracts, if that gives me any extra leverage.

I've been looking myself and it is all too confusing !

DH says that some scientist has proved that it is now not possible for one person to compare all the offers in their lifetime !! I have certainly lost will to live !
