Toys with a 'space' theme for a 2.5 year old DS

I have a 2.5 year old DS who is very interested in space generally and specifically things like the moon, astronauts, planets and stars. I would like to get him something spacey for Christmas and wondered if anyone could recommend something appropriate. I like the idea of a space station type thing and ELC do one but I thought it might be a bit young so I'm looking for an alternative (unfortunately Playmobil don't do one). I'd also quite like one or two books - I might get the Man in the Moon book but would welcome any other suggestions.

there's a cool Dr Seuss book on space - it's one of their 'learning libraries' , not an original Dr Suess, but still a good one. Sells for about £4 or £5o n amazon

Cracking rocket in the new ELC catalogue

here

Did you mean this from ELC? It is really cool and my DS has loads of different things from the range. They are really well made and his fav toys. He is only 15months but our nearly 3year old nephew loves to play with them too.
They fight over them!

Great minds Welsh! LOL

Thanks all. Yes, that's the ELC one I meant but I thought it looked a bit young maybe? Hana, I have found that book on Amazon and put it on my wishlist - great suggestion.

Some great stuff here at GLTC - wall charts, height charts, wall hanging, pyjamas and towel set (so some practical stuff too)

Lots of Lunar Jim toys about this year - I think they're in the ELC too.

Ds has a great book, funny, not very factual, called "Bugs in Space". Its pop up, lift the flap etc and a firm favorite.
"The man in the Moon" is very popular at our pre-school amongst the 3 year olds.

my DS has one of these dressing up outfits . Very cool.

Try Brio for toys - they used to do some.
For books, this is really beautiful. If you do buy it, do me a favour and quote my stallholder number UK1008321 and they'll know it was me that recommended it

Oh, and Rocket Countdown by Nick Sharratt is great fun, sadly out of print but you may find a 2nd hand copy.

Fantastic suggestions! I am going to bid on the spacesuit treacletart, he will love that. I like the idea of the globe as well as he could really do with a night light. Good book suggestions too and the GLTC things look interesting. Off to look at my catalogue now. Thank you all very much for your help.
