Anyone know how to remove the cover of the water/ice dispenser? The lever thing for the water bit isn't fixed on properly and I can't get at it to fix it.

Sledgehammer?

Sledgehammer?

SoupDragon · 03/11/2006 16:44

Oh, I'm tempted....

It clearly unclips from somewhere... bet an engineer would have it whipped off in 2 seconds (and £75).

mine just pulls out .. so it can't be the same model

Twiglett · 03/11/2006 16:46

I have to make sure freezer door is straight back then I just give it a tug from the bit where the ice comes out

SoupDragon · 03/11/2006 16:58

It's the fascia bit on the outside of the door I want to remove.

It clearly comes off - part of it pulls away if I prise it up - but I don't want to snap any clips off It has to come off or there's no way to get at the controls etc to repair them.

Very disappointed - I was expecting a link to "online instructions"

I've seen that site already. It didn't help.

ok mine is model SR20-28C (according to inside of fridge) and there is no way on earth that front fascia panel is designed to come off on mine

guyfawkesHEIFERgy · 03/11/2006 17:18

Ok, I have a RS21DGRS

Is this the same one??

I have instruction manual in front of me, but can't figure out what bit you want to take off?

Do you mean the cover of the control box?

SoupDragon · 03/11/2006 17:27

Yes, pretty much. I need to get to the bit where the drinks lever is - the bit you push with the glass.

This has to come off Twig - it's not part of the outside of the door, it was obviously separate. The inside of the door is one continuous peice and Ican't imagine you'd need toremove that to access this for repair.

guyfawkesHEIFERgy · 03/11/2006 17:38

I can see the bit you mean now (had to get a torch and sit underneath it)....

BUT I can't get my cover off either.... I can see clips in there but they didn't seem to do anything and I didn't want to push them too much (there are metal clips)...

Sorry I can't help. Manual doesn't mention that bit at all... I am not sure you are meant to take it off.... which is no use to you of course...

Twiglett · 03/11/2006 17:42

I'd pay for an engineer to come out personally

SoupDragon · 04/11/2006 14:05

I'm sure I'm not meant to take it off but it annoys me that I have to fork out a fortune for someone to remove it. Especially as I suspect the fridge is knackered anyway ( I think it also has the design fault that a lot have where the back of the fridge and the fan ice up and the frige doesn't cool properly)

OP posts:
FlyingSaucer · 05/11/2006 00:16

I have the same fridge but I'm afraid I don't have an answer to your question. Mine is really noisy, and I was thinking of asking an engineeer to come and look at it. Is anyone else's this noisy?

ALoudFireworkScaredMyBadMouse · 05/11/2006 00:23

Mine had that design fault, SD (it was the cheaper one without the dispenser). I now have a Bosch one (free replacement, plus £50 in vouchers when I complained - this was in 2004). The removal men snapped the front off it on our front door step and then reversed the van into it as they took it away [Laurel and Hardy]

Twiglett · 05/11/2006 09:08

different model .. got noisy ... and used to grind down to silent when I opened the door

it was the motor all iced up supposedly

it costs £240 to replace

be warned
