Baby Alive doll. Any good?

Dd is after one of these for Xmas - I expect because it poops!! She's probably seen it advertised on TV. I've never heard of it, but looked it up on google and it doesn't look that special to cost so much. Can anyone recommend it as something their child actually plays with, or has it been a five minute wonder and left in the toybox once the poop novelty has worn off?

Baby Alive used to be around when I was a child & I was very jealous that my friend had one & I didn't! I think it used to eat food then & make a strange noise while moving it's mouth!
I can't remember it pooing though!
I saw the new kind advertised on TV & it now speaks too!
Must say...it looks kind of scary!!

The new one is really ugly . I still have the original at my mum's !

I'm not really up on the doll side of things, as I have 2 boys!

It has a huge head. I suspect DD2 might have this in mind as she was cooing over it on the TV yesterday.

Have to say I thought she wasn't particularly cute either. Weirdish even. I'm feeling it could hurt me to part with hard cash for this one!! Are there any other nice ones I could try to persuade her she'd prefer. We already have baby Annabel which I must say she has loved for the last four years, so I don't mind buying a new baby doll for her to love - just not overstruck on this one!

Just seen the advert for it... HEALTH WARNING - very annoying America accent on said doll...

Apologies to any americans I may or may not have offended, but I am sure that whatever region of US you are from the dolls accent is different...
