Is my kindle dead for ever?

My beloved kindle fire - adored more than my children - went grey, then black, then refused to come back to life. At least, according to the two children who were playing with it at the time Hmm

Is there any reason for hope, or is this the end? Is two years a good innings for a kindle?

Plus: now looking on Amazon for a replacement, and am completely confused about the choice. I mainly use mine for reading, but also enjoy the odd game of scrabble [middle aged emoticon] and the children play games on it. It would be nice to be able to read Mumsnet and send emails too... Any advice on which model to go for? The HD7 is on special offer right now - is it actually better than the HD6, or just a bit bigger?

Amazon customer services ate amazing. This has happened to me a few times and they've fixed it for me over the phone Confused and when they once couldn't sent me a new one recorded delivery.

Oh wow, I'll give that a try first then! Thanks, cogito.

Do a hard reset (hold down button for at least 20 secs)

then call amazon - they were really helpful when this happened me.

It lives! Thanks so much, everybody - Amazon helped me troubleshoot it through. And if it dies for good, I will definitely talk to them first next time. Can't believe I was ready to shell out...

Thanks so much,e veryone.
