Tripp Trapp - new model for 2007

After much umming and ahing I decided to go ahead and order a Tripp Trapp high chair for DS2 (DS1 had a strap-on booster seat which got intolerably dirty and constantly threatened to fall of the dining chair). Anyway, looking at the twoleftfeet.co.uk website I see there are two models available. Does anyone know what the difference is between the old model and the new 2007 model?

Well, I've just looked at the Stokke website (www.stokke.com) and can't find any information about two models. There are loads of different colours though.

However, from what I've heard about TLF I wouldn't order it from there! I got ours from Lullabys (?.com) and they were great.

Great choice though, I think it is absolutely fab and DS does too

I've just looked at the Stokke website, and there is only one model there, and it looks identical to the one we bought 4 years ago...

Off to look at 2 left feet

hulababy · 30/10/2006 20:38

Please do NOT buy anything from Two Left Feet - do a MN search about them to find several reasons why!

We love our Tripp Trapp - had it for over 4 years now and it is used daily. Not heard of a new model.

hulababy · 30/10/2006 20:40

Can't see a second TT model on TLF website.

tissy · 30/10/2006 20:41

Sorry, can't find 2 models on 2LF, either, sorry (or am I being thick?)

tissy · 30/10/2006 20:41

well, if I am hula is too!

Trinityrhino · 30/10/2006 20:43

i can't find a second model on the two left feet site either

worcestercaroline · 30/10/2006 21:11

We bought ours new from ebay at nearly half the price, it came from abroad. Don't know about 2007 chair.

LIZS · 30/10/2006 21:14

Could it simply be different colourways?

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 30/10/2006 21:17

The other one isn't the 'Sitti' chair is it?

fubsy · 30/10/2006 21:23

Its not called the Breezi is it? Tripp trapps get used alot for children with special needs as you can adapt them for more support, but there was a scare a few years ago when someone (Which i think) found that they could be tipped over by a very lively child. SN equipment cataloques now do some similar chairs, Breezi is one of them.

Never had any probs with our tripp trapp tho, in use for 5 years.

Hello there, the difference between the old and new styles of TT is quite small. Basically they've changed the design of the babyset (the raised back bar, strap and safety bar kit for babies). The chair itself has not changed at all.

The old one had a shaped piece of wood (which replaced the top back bar) to give more support to little ones at the back, the new one is a piece of moulded plastic which fits on the existing back bar.

Apparently the design has changed to fall in line with safety standards in lots of countries. They were manufacuring loads of different ones for different countries so Stokke have decided to standardise them.

In my opinion the old one is far nicer than the new one. You should still be able to get hold of one if you ring an few suppliers (we've not got any of the new ones at our shop yet). Also, the old style cushion does not fit the new design so those are being sold off a bit cheaper too.

Good Luck!

hulababy · 30/10/2006 22:01

I have never thought to remove the curved back bar and put the other back on. I like the way the curved back looks.

LIZS · 31/10/2006 07:51

In Europe they don't generally sell the baby higher back anyway. dd managed perfectly well without it.

PigeonPie · 31/10/2006 08:56

Thanks Teaandcake, that's really helpful. Do you know if the original baby set is likely to fit on the new style TT?

Stuntnun · 31/10/2006 17:39

Many thanks to Teaandcake. I'm going to order the old version as, in my opinion, the whole point of buying a Tripp Trapp chair is to avoid plastic.

By the way, if you want to see the new model Tripp Trapp, go to www.twoleftfeet.co.uk/acatalog/Stokke_Tripp_Trapp_2007.html

Agree with those who say NO NO to 2 left feet.
But YES YEs to Tripp Trapp - truly excellent chair, rate it one of my best baby buys and trust me I've done plenty of shopping

Teaandcake · 31/10/2006 21:22

Yep, the old babyset will fit because the TT has not changed at all, the new babyset back part just clamps to the back bar of the chair.

Of course, if you buy a TT for your first child with the old babyset (while you can), you could then just pass that one which is ready for babies on to the next child and buy another one for the older child who by then no longer requires a babyset anyway.

Sorry, rambled on a bit there, and stated the obvious.
