I must confess that I don't know exactly what a divan bed is. But, it might be worth knowing that House of Fraser currently has beds on sale at big discounts - think the sale goes until 6 November. I went in approximately 10 days ago, and the salesman told me that the Hypnos was good (it had two royal warrants, if that is any indication of quality). He also was suggesting Relyon. I think both have websites.

I'm in central London, so am unsure if the sale is on at all House of Fraser stores, but the discounts are substantial - between 30-50%, IIRC.

We've got a super king size one from Ikea which is good.

buktus · 29/10/2006 19:00

didnt get the bed from ikea but got the mattress there and its really comfy but when you buy it comes in two halfs and you put them together and put the cover round it

buktus · 29/10/2006 19:01

a nice bedstead does look loads better than a divan but then a divan is handy if you need the storage

themoon666 · 29/10/2006 19:02

Does your mattress of two halves hold together ok then? Or can you feel the join?

SherlockLGJ · 29/10/2006 19:04

Sealy do the best matresses.

We bought our bed/s in Harrogate they are made from reclaimed pine.

buktus · 29/10/2006 19:05

yes we were really shocked when we picked it up, but the two inside bits go in the cover which is the same sort of thing as a normal bed, you would nt be able to tell that is two halves, and you dont feel the ridge, beacsue they go in the cover so tightly -at least they fitted in the car lol

CastsSpellsWitchySpells · 29/10/2006 19:06

Ooh get this YG - we have one in spare room, plus the same brand mattress in our room - they are sooooooooo comfortable!

lemonysnickett · 29/10/2006 19:07

Saw picture of kate middleton in paper today ..bought a nice divan ffrom peter jones...wooden frame...probably good if she bought it!

buktus · 29/10/2006 19:07

It was £210 but they do a cheaper one which is £140 or a dearer one which is £270 but they didnt have that one in stock so we went for the middle one, its really comfy

themoon666 · 29/10/2006 19:10

Buktus... that's the one I was thinking off. Am currently hankering after the Ikea Malm bed, kingsize, with the lovely slide out bookshelves and end of bed storage etc.

buktus · 29/10/2006 19:12

www.pinetum.co.uk/images/BarnBed500.jpg, this is our bed but we bought the mattress in ikea, i dont know whether the king size comes in two halves i think it may tell you on their website

mousiemousie · 30/10/2006 08:32

vispring are at john lewis and furniture village - that's the bed I aspire to, not the one I have!

katiebirdie · 30/10/2006 11:26

good choice themoon666 thats what i have and its a lovely bed. although is pretty low and i found it slightly pain in the behind when very heavily pregnant, lol
