PLEASE help me find an MP3 player that isn't an ipod!!!

Dh would love one for Christmas, and I am not very technically minded, but I hear people saying that ipods have their limitations so would like to get something else. (Also we're not really ones for 'following the trends' so would be nice to get something a bit different. And am not wanting to spend a fortune on it either!!) Only problem is it's a minefield of MP3 players nowadays and I am stuck!!

Can anyone help?

Creative a very good make - much better than ipod. REliable and you get what you pay for (unlike ipod)
