1st car seat with leave in car base??????

Yes we do have isofix but looking at others too as I have to buy two.

They will be going either side of the Britax isofix in my Picasso. Would like the leave in base for ease & convienience as having twins. Think it would be easier than trying the strap two car seats in and a three year old when it is raining.

What do you recommend? How good are they?

Thanks

you mean like the graco ones that strap in the car and then the car seat clips in & Out?

MerlinsBeard · 26/10/2006 19:41

we had a graco autobase one for DS1, no problems, strapped in really tight and was a nice angle to "click" the seat into as well.

oooggs · 26/10/2006 19:41

Yes I think it is a graco auto baby

Also I think M&P do one - not sure

I've got the Graco plus Autobase and it's great. However, it does make the seatbelt socket inaccessible for the centre seat in my Laguna so if you need to access this you'd need to double check before buying. It's a PITA for me as my older 2 are in highback boosters.

lulumama · 26/10/2006 19:45

i[ve got the graco one, which is ok when used in the back, with two booster seats...i have a picasso too.... DD 15 months and still using it! very pleased with it...great when the weather is bad and you don;t have to sped ages strapping the seat in, getting soaked!

Olihan · 26/10/2006 19:46

We had the mamas and papas primo viaggio which has the leave in base. You still have to change the position of the handle and stretch the long bit of the seatbelt around the back of the seat so it's not really any quicker than the ones without bases. Also the base is quite wide so don't know if you would fit one each side of the Britax.

oooggs · 26/10/2006 19:47

Good point Soupdragon, cos ds may be in a booster type seat before twins out of stage 1.

M&P primoviaggio (sp?) one is rubbish (IMO). Do not get it; it will cause many a rage as you try to detach the car seat from the base and try not to bring the car seat with you...

you can get isofix with leave-in base. this is what i wish i had done. roll on stage 2 seat so i can get isofix and be done with it. i am sick of the whole seatbelt thing. i just leave the carseat permanently in the car now.

oooggs · 26/10/2006 19:55

the only think that puts me off the isofix is the price (sorry I know I can put a price on my childrens safety) but with having to get two.

Also we have an old (W) picasso and not sure they are advised.

We do isofix the britax at the mo, but use the seatbeat as well as we are not supposed to rely soley on the isofix.

If that makes any sense.

Which recommended the Britax Cosy Tot, and the Maxi Cosi Cabriofix & you can buy bases separately for both. I looked at both in mothercare at the w'end and the Britax base was smaller but the seat didn't seem as comfy or as well-built (I don't find my stage 2 britax v.comfy either). Have seen a lot of people rave about the graco auto baby one on mumsnet tho. Kiddicare discount if you buy 2 of anything, but yes v.expensive if you buy the seat & the base esp for 2 children! Ebay had some maxi cosi's (new) cheaper than I've seen elsewhere online inc kiddicare, so worth a look.

oooggs · 26/10/2006 20:40

thanks for the tip on Kiddicare

i have since looked at the Maxicosi and the Britax (to see what i was missing out on) and they look much better, and baby lies more horizontal. i had problem with DD tending to lean forward in M&P one.

appreciate isofix is expensive. i was when i saw how much but i will definitely get isofix stage 2, they are meant to be 'safer' but obv depends on what fits your car etc.

oooggs · 27/10/2006 14:44

Defo agree with isofix stage two and they are in them for much longer. The Britax isofix is great and I will buy another one of those.

Will investigate more on the others that have been mentioned

Thank you
