DD desperately wants a gameboy and I have finally said that maybe we should get her one for xmas - she doesn't have a telly in her room and I thought although it goes against my ideals that maybe she should be like her pals and have some sort of computer game thingy.

Anyway please don;t reply as to the morals of it and the wheres and whys etc....

I just want to know if a Nintendo DS is better (someone said ti was good for educational and you had a writing stick thing with it too!!) or a Gameboy. DD is 6 and a half by the way

Hi, I bought my DS a Nintendo DS for Christmas last year, when he was just turned 6. It's the best present I have ever bought him.
You can play gameboy games on it too, but not the other way round.
You do need to be a reasonable reader though, as there are lots of instuctions and things throughout most of the games.

I bought all three of mine 15 12 and 5 Nintendo DS last year. They all enjoy using them but they still occasionaly use their game boys. The DS has better graphics on screen than the game boy and it is more interactive rather than just pushing buttons all the time.

DS !!! my Ds1 has just had one- he loves it- especially so on long journeys. graphics are much better than gameboy

nintendo DS all the way.

it is much more interactive and you can find games that are geared for educational purposes as well.

plus you can use gameboy games on it as well, so if her freinds have GBA's they can swop and share games or whatever.
