Anyone tried to repair a puncture?

I am having real difficulty getting the tyre on properly..where the valve comes through the innertube gets caught under the tyre and I can't fix it.

Are the valves meant to be on an angle or are mine bent and ruined?

Need to rty and sort this before getting the children from school in 25 minutes ( I am in the usa)

Oh god, sorry I've never had to change a tyre (only pumped one up a bit when it got flat). Have just had a look at my valves, and they're sticking straight out at about (guessing here) 30 degrees to the 'rim'... does that help at all?

loomer · 24/10/2006 19:56

Sorry, I didn't mean that they're sticking straight out, obviously they stick out at an angle! So you're still in with a chance.

The original valves are on a slight angle, but we have since bought replacement inner tubes and these are not on an angle. DP always uses washing up liquid around the rim of the rubber tyre. We have had loads of punctures - too much off roading!

thank you - will have to leave extra 10 mins and walk/carry dd2 - puncture is fixed and tyre on but the outer tube ins't sitting right - there is a bump where the valve is - at least they are meant to be on an angle - thanks for responding - off to the bus stop now

DP says have you tried taking the inner tube out & turning it around so that the valve points in the other direction? I must admit, I don't really understand what he means!!!

taken it out and turned it round...I have decided i thinkt he valve is not right but will have to bow to the greater technical expertise of dh tonight

(in other words I 've given up - he can deal with the retched thing later!!!)
