Car for a car sick toddler

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of improving car sickness in different cars?

My daughter (3 in a few weeks) has suffered from motion sickness in the car from about 18 months. Initially it was just on long journeys but it seems to have got worse.

I recently changed from a Honda Civic to a large Fiat 500L to try and improve her visibility in the hope that it would make her journey more comfortable. She's in the middle rear seat - so a clear view out of the front, full glass roof and high up seating. I always keep the car cool, give her something to focus on in the distance (we play eye spy for hours!) - but there was a new vomit record last week after just 12 minutes into the journey.

I now feel I can't go anywhere and it's really getting me down. I'm feeling very trapped. I don't want her to feel rotten in the car and I spend my whole time feeling anxious that she's about to puke.

So - I was thinking of maybe a reverse strategy and a low to the ground estate car. Firm suspension is meant to be better and I think I made a mistake with the Fiat as it's a bit "wallowy".

Any suggestions?

Thanks
