Mad.

I have a microwave which I use about once or twice a month so could easily do without (and it was my mum's old one, about 15 years old now)

But I use the washing machine about 4/5 times a week. And I was very glad to have it this weekend as ds vomited copiously over himself and the sofa (and the carpet which is not machine washable)

crikey. I have no microwave and no mobile (and hardly ever use the kettle).
But the washer is on at least 8 times a week. Couldn't possibly live without it.

I didnt have a washing machine for several years. Had to wash all teh childrens clothes in the bath.

anyone who calls a washing machine useless needs their head examining. imo.

Do they wash all the bedlinen in the sink as well?

I couldn't cope without my washing machine, we were in France a month ago and the chalet we stayed in had no washing machine, or oven but that's another story. anyway the kids clothes were filthy and I was despairing of the fact they'd have to go home in dirty clothes when our neighbour very kindly let me use theirs.

there was a public washing machine but it ran on tokens that you had to buy from the reception but it was never open!

no, their kids are all grown up now. but they do have grandkids over to stay. whichis how i know them.
i agree, they must haave either very toned arms, or are smelly.
i know people who dont use their microwaves, dishwashers etc. and even their vacuum cleaners. but i haave never before heardd of anyone without a washing machine

well we didn't have one for years, to be fair

we went to the laundrette when we could afford it, and for bedlinen, but apart from that...we washed things in the shower. (sometimes at work, in bad months )

I don't think we were smelly.

We had to do this, you see, otherwise we couldn't afford to spend months at a time travelling. It was a necessity.
