would not recommend smeg or zanussi

my mom has bosch - it seems fine

buktus · 22/10/2006 20:02

mine is an ariston, wouldnt recommend it, it is always breaking, but the repair man says that whirlpool and bosch are expensive to repair when they go wrong too

Smurfgirl · 22/10/2006 20:02

Bosch are v.good. My parents have always had them and they last v.well. We are saving up for one right now.

UCM · 22/10/2006 20:56

Anything with a 3 year guarantee. I am getting my next one from john lewis. Bought a cheap Beko one from Argos and it broke after 18 months, not one dishwasher repair person would touch is as they can't get the parts. Someone told me that JL do a 3 year guarantee so I will go there. Apparently their own make is german so pretty much bound to be ok.

LadyOfTheFlowersAKA2Babies0Bum · 22/10/2006 20:57

NO dishwasher, dont be lazy!

rustycreakingdoorbear · 22/10/2006 20:58

I'd recommend mine - John Lewis own brand - but don't get the stainless steel one unless you're a serious style victim - it's exactly the same inside, but £220 more

crunchie · 22/10/2006 20:58

bosch bosch bosch, don't waste time or money looking at other brands. I could give you the full reasons, as explained to me by teh head of Bosch Dishwashers in the UK, trust me it took over an hour. However I am totally convinced re Bosch and wouldn't buy any other brand for any white goods now

saadia · 22/10/2006 21:00

ours is Neff, so far seems very good.

docket · 22/10/2006 21:02

Bosch and Miele make the best, according to 'Which'. Ours is a Bosch and I would definitely recommend it.

katiebirdie · 22/10/2006 21:12

got a bosch as well and its fab. definately recommended.

tiptoes · 22/10/2006 21:49

We have miele,it has a childproof lock which is very handy with lo's around.

earlysbird · 22/10/2006 22:01

ours is AEG we've had it 3 yrs and no problems at all, also has a 30 min setting on it which is v handy!

katzg · 23/10/2006 08:21

thank you all

so Bosch miele or Aeg then that helps with my short list, will have a look in John Lewis esp. if they do do 3 year guarentee.

we currently have an indesit which is 5 years old to give it its credit but has started to leak, its also only slimline and we wish up upgrade to a bigger one now we have children!

OP posts:
KTeepee · 23/10/2006 08:36

Have had a Bosch slimline for nearly 7 yrs and it's still going strong...

Furball · 23/10/2006 08:37

make sure you check how long the program you will use most lasts for. I have a quick programme that washes for 30 mins but has no dry (AEG) which is great for everyday plates etc. The next setting is for 1 1/2 hours!! which is far too long.

rustycreakingdoorbear · 23/10/2006 17:39

My previous one was a Zanussi & I had that one for 14 years, but I heard the new model is not as good, which is why I went for the John Lewis one.

phantomrantum · 23/10/2006 17:44

i'd usually agree with bosch being best, BUT, got one...it flooded my kitchen, I returned it, got another (thought 1st was faulty), it flooded my kitchen, I returned it. Got a hotpoint, it cleaned my dishes.

23balloons · 23/10/2006 17:51

We got a Bosch Exxel at Christmas. I have never had a dishwasher before so cannot compare it but don't think I would buy Bosch again as it take 2 hours to do the dishes or 3 hours on the economy program!! Also none of the kids plastic stuff is ever dry and I have to drain it or dry it myself.

Apart from that it is fine.

cupsnakes · 23/10/2006 17:53

any opinion on Smeg?
dh wants this one in red.

phantomrantum · 23/10/2006 17:55

Looks funky, but I'd never spend money like that on an appliance for cleaning dishes when I could use the cash to buy shoes...

katzg · 23/10/2006 20:32

i want the smeg one!
