Nice quality girl's bedlinen that isn't pink or lilac??

I'm looking for a single duvet & pillowcase for DD that isn't pale pink or lilac, and doesn't have Winnie/Fifi/Barbie/any branded character on it.

Something colourful, perhaps with orange or bright pink or greens?? And good quality cotton too! Oh, and not too much white

I may be asking too much, but her walls/curtains/blinds just don't go with pale pink/lilac and there's no way I'm changing all of those!!

Thanks in anticipation

do you just need a standard single size, or cot bed size duvet cover (is there such a thing?)?

amazonianwoman · 20/10/2006 09:42

Standard single size

ikea do lovely children's linen. v. reasonably priced, & funky unusual designs.

MrsBadger · 20/10/2006 09:48

John Lewis is generally a good bet but they don't have much on line - this or this are quite funky, but in store they have plain cotton or polycotton (still v nice) linen in just about every colour imaginable.
Argos have a good range of colours too (including a ruby, hot pink, burnt orange and turquoise) but their cotton blend isn't up to much.

Agree Ikea's a good bet. La Redoute can have some OK stuff too - spotted this , but it's out of stock. They do have other stuff...

And if you're prepared to spend a bit more there's this or this at Cath Kidston. Might still be too pink or white for you though.

GRUMPYGHOUL · 20/10/2006 09:56

try www.redoute.co.uk they usually have some funky things (sorry cant do the link thing)

amazonianwoman · 20/10/2006 09:58

Love the 1st Cath Kidston one and didn't think it was too expensive til I saw you have to buy the pillowcase separately Like the Redoute one too.

Off to Ikea next week, so will look there. Couldn't find anything in John Lewis

Thanks all!

I love Ikea too. and they are 100%cotton
also vertbaudet?

mrsdarcy · 20/10/2006 18:46

This one is orange, pink and green

It's £70 for the cover and £17 for the pillowcase though. Do they have a factory shop, or do they do brilliant sales, I wonder?

janeite · 20/10/2006 21:23

We have a Cath Kidston one for dd2 that we got in the House of Fraser sale. Was £30 and we just use a plain white pillow case with it. It looks gorgeous and timeless, much nicer than dd1's from Next, which was more expensive but included pillowcase.

my dd decided she wanted a yellow duvet set but I couldn't find one in the shops so I bought a plain white one and some yellow dylon and she now has a yellow duvet that she loves!

accessorizequeen · 20/10/2006 22:53

hey, aw, did you finally buy your dd a bed then? Mothercare do some colourful ones, I bought the animals duvet & v.pleased with it, v.bright lovely quality bright oranges & green. Habitat do a couple of bright ones, as do Verbaudet.

amazonianwoman · 23/10/2006 13:49

Thanks all again, off to follow up all your suggestions

AQ - yes, got DD a big girl's bed a couple of weeks ago and she likes it, or at least she did until she threw up over EVERYTHING last night, so she's back in the cot til it's dry (why oh why didn't I get a waterproof mattress protector ) Did you manage to sort out a new underseat bag for the bug - John Lewis say they can't order one any more, Bugaboo say they should be able to gggrrr! Still loving the MB BTW, it's fab fab fab
