i bought this in a lakeland buying frenzy as i had got sick of steaming or boiling tiny amounts of vegetables for ds - it has now occurred to me that i have no idea exactly how to cook, say, a couple of sprigs of broccoli- ie do you just shove it in on high for couple of mins, or do you add water, and if so how much? any tips on using it, or other things to do with it would be great.

do you mean the one with the basket inside ? in which case add a bit of water first or the one with no basket - in which case a bit of water for broc and carrots but none for frozen veg. To be honest you will need a bit of trial and error - microwave power not all being the same, brocoli can burn if too hot, not enough water etc, frozen veggies never have. if you have the steamer one, it also does rice quite well. carrots will stain the plastic.
