DH has a large collection of LPs that he treasures but cannot play. I have just seen in the IWOOT catalogue a turntable that will play LPs and convert to MP3 files for downloading onto an iPod. I would really love to get one for dh for Christmas, but I don't know if there are others available on the market, what the quality is like, or where else to start looking. I am a bit worried about the quality of the IWOOT one in case it is gimmicky, but don't know what to compare it with. Can anyone help, please?

there's a good article here about this

I saw one mentioned in this month's Easy Living - will look it out for you later. Am also thinking of getting one for my dh for Christmas!

The one mentioned in easy Living was the same one that ediemay linked to - the Ion USB turntable. Don't know where you buy them from though...

DH has this one. He is very happy with it.

Thanks guys, Mumsnet never fails! I think the ION one is the one that IWOOT.com are offering on their site. Madmarchhare, daft question but can your dh tell me how he would get the music onto his ipod? Would dh store it on the computer first, I guess?
