Car boot no good for dog crate

I have a Mini Countryman and the boot goes down so the crate sits nicely inside it but it means th puppy can only just get inside the crate. The whole of the front unzips but 1 third of it is below the line of the boot edge so the puppy only has 2/3 of the space to get in. He can do I just now but he won't be able to very soon.

Any ideas please?
It seems mini don't do a false floor for the Countryman like they do for some of their ranges.

thanks floralnomad but he's teething just now and will try and chew everything so I'd much rather have him safe and sound in the crate
