Another Car Seat Question For tall nearly 2 year old...ds is too tall for his seat..recommendations?

Hi, ds is 21 months and his head is now at top of car seat. Is it right that when their head hits this line/over line, that they are too big for the seat? Trouble is he is so skinny, so don't know if he is too small in weight for a 'bigger' seat.
Anyone else have/had this issue?

(he is in a britax one at the mo)

get him weighed.

IdrisTheDragon · 16/10/2006 14:37

You could get a stage 123 seat. DS is nearly 3 but only around 30lb and not heavy enough to be in a seatbelt only car seat and I wouldn't want him to be anyway.

IdrisTheDragon · 16/10/2006 14:38

You have moved the straps up/down (can't work out which due to lack of spatial awareness .

Think I will take him to clinic this week, haven't been since July, just checked my red book!
What is a stage 123 seat? Have tried straps, but he is so tall, he is same same height as my 4 yr old Nephew.

I don't take mine to clinic I just make them stand on the digital scales.

mumfor1standfinaltime · 16/10/2006 14:53

I don't have any scales. (threw them out whilst pg, couldn't face it!)

He is 29lbs. Now need to look at car seat 'weights'.

what carseat is he in?

i was told that until the top of the carseat is at their eye height then there's no need to change unless he's too heavy.

we use a britax ranger which has a red clip that hold the seatbelt firmly on their shoulder so that they cant wriggle about too much but are still safe.not sure what weight they need to be though.im sure if you look on mothercare or britax website they'll have more info.

its hard to make sure they're in the right seat and fitted in correctly.i tend to stick to the same seats so i know they're safe.

29lbs, just over 13kgs, isn't heavy enough for a Stage 2 I'm afraid (min 15, preferably 18kg). You could look at the Britax Evolva123 or Elite which still have harnesses but the actual seat is larger than other stage 1 ones.

mumfor1standfinaltime · 19/10/2006 11:55

He is in a britax one at the moment, not sure of model off hand. Its like a 'baby seat', I wanted to get one more like a chair iyswim.
The top of his head is just starting to reach top of seat.

Will have a look at those Lizs.
Have seen a graco one in Mothercare which has a booster seat which detaches at later date. Not sure on the weight for those though. This whole car seat thing does my brain in!

Graco are far from the best safety wise.

mumfor1standfinaltime · 20/10/2006 11:58

Really?

I am still unsure what to go for. Think I will have to have a look around and try some out. Trouble is also, we have a sporty car so back seats are tiny and this doesn't help with choice.
