We are wanting to get a new phone, possibly one of a set of 2. An ideal function we are looking for is where we can switch the phone to silent without disconecting the whole phone..

When we had dd we had to disconnect the phone which was pain but now with ds2b on the way we wanted a phone that we can do this with the flick of a switch..

I have heard a mner suggest one but can't remember make or model.

TIA. xx

Can't you turn the ringer volume down on most of them?

TheUnholyTrinity · 15/10/2006 12:50

you can turn the ringer volume down or off on both the base stations and the handsets on, I would say, all of them

You should always keep at least one ordinary phone plugged in as the cordless ones don't work in a power cut (helpful hint no 483)

Panasonic cordless are extremely good btw.

We have a Binatone phone and we have it set so that the handset rings but the base doesn't as the base is out in the hall and would wake our dd's if it rang. We've had it for a couple of years now though, but maybe the other Binatone models have the same function?

I'll find out tomorrow as I have to go and buy a new phone as dd2 decided it would be fun to pour her cup of milk over our handset yesterday and it's not working properly now, think it's time for a new one in the linnet household.

eidsvold · 16/10/2006 01:00

we have a bt one but its a pain to keep going into memory setting etc change the ring type. BUT yes it does have the function we needed BUT we wondered if there was one that did it with the press of one button..?

I have seen the mango but it looks quite confussing to use..! Looks Like an ipod..!

Thanks everyone.

Our Panasonic ones are sort of like this although with ours the memory holds 200 numbers and they cost a lot more - I can't find a current equivalent.

Anyway with ours it's dead easy to turn the sound off the handset and the base station (although you do need the handbook to do it if you don't do it very often!)
