family car for tall mum and dad

my husband and I are both over 6i. we have a 3 door saab and since we now have a 1 year old, and i frequently sit in the back with her, we want to upgrade our car to something with more room in the back.

however obvious choices have too little leg room. in fact the seven seaters seem to be best option, but not sure we can justify its purchase for just three of us (maybe 4 in the future)

Any families out there recommend a roomy car, with good performance, good fuel consumption and decent insurance group?

i am thinking mpv or estate. a car to grow into.

my hubby is 6ft5 and we have renault espace.it is excellant and the seats are removable or folding or can be moved back and forward and even swivel right round for picnics.lots of boot space if back seats folded or out.can also sit between your little ones to feed as 3 seats behind are roomy.

We have just bought a Citroen Berlingo which has lots of room inside, and loads of headroom, with lots of little storage places up top too. So far it is good on diesel and is only group 5 insurance

My mum has a Citroen Piccaso and that seems to have plenty of room for tall people. I am 6ft, my brother is 6ft8 and he has no trouble driving it.

Recently we went to Wales (about a 4hour drive from us) and had 4 adults and a carseat in it and there was loads of room. I was sat in the back with my my mum and I was perfectly comfortable. The back seats are 3 separate seats that you can remove if you ever need to carry anything large and the boot is really roomy for all the kids stuff you need. We had all our luggage, travel cot, light weight buggy etc and it all fitted in.

I would def recoment it and it is really resonable second hand.

Our Renault Kangoo has a lot of head space, (also a family of 6 footers) also fits 3 car seats across the back, huge separate boot and cheap to buy and run!

Honda CRV or Volvo XC90

The Picasso has lots of headroom, and so does the VW Touran - which you can get as a 5 or 7 seater. I hated the Picasso, but I know a lot of people love them. We've had the Touran for a few months now and are finding it very good on fuel consumption and dh finds it brilliant to drive.

or the Volvo C70 if you can live with a saloon, and you can sleep easy cause you still drive a car made in a cool country!
