Plimsolls - I need the power of Mumsnet

A friend is having a terrible time trying to find plimsolls to fit her dd. I met her this am coming out of yet another shoe shop, and she said she had run out of ideas and didn't know where to go next. I of course, do know where to go -HERE. So don't let me down....

She needs size nine black plimsolls (not trainers) for school PE. But her dd has very very slim feet, and ones from Next, M&S, Start-rite and Debenhams have all just slipped off her feet despite being the right length. Please help with suggestions of anywhere else she could try - we have access to most shops and mail-order is also fine.

Thanks in advance to the POWER OF MUMSNET

Has she tried the ones with the velcro fastening rather than the little elastic bit at the front? I always find those stay on my dds' slim feet better.

Morning prufrock

I got some for dd at Woolworths (not local though), having tried Sainsbury and Tesco.

I think that the Sainsbury ones were all size 9, so good for your friend (if she's local) but not for me!

They had the velcro ones and the others, and it was just last week so there may be some left.

Clarks do them with width fittings I think

But only the larger stores

Is she looking at the ones with velcro? My Ds has slim feet and we could never buy 'normal' plimsolls. Only those with the wrap over velcro. BHS is one possibility, also Clarks,Woolworths and Adams. I don't think you can get them in width fittings - but some are better than others. Also maybe worth giving her dd a pair of thick sports socks for wearing with her plimsolls rather than normal school socks.

Thank you very much. CQ - Sainsbury's only had size 12's left on Tuesday pm!

She got some Clarks online which arrived this am and were pronounced by her dd to be "practically perfect". So now - do I take al teh credit and jsut let her think I'm brilliant at finding things - or introduce her to you lot.......

Lol - was just going to say that Clarks do width fittings for plimsolls.
