Often walk to school with ds and dd1 and dd2. dd2 is 4 months old and I like to change around how we travel. I travel through town but up hills too so find pushchair a bit tiring. I use baby bjorn on front but am interested in ring slings or hippychick. Are any of these any good? I find everything pulls on my back. How do you ensure baby does not fall off hippychick? (Assume it is for slightly older babies but even so!!) Any advice would be helpful! Has anyone ever made a ring sling? Thanks alot!!

hi! I had a hippychick myself and found it so useful I bought one for a friend too. It works by forming a seat for your child at your side and they hang on to you while you support them with your arm. It is not exactly hands free, but is like holding then on your hip without the need to thrust hip sideways. Suitable from about 6 mnths, I think. Also used a backpack carrier for years with my 3 kids - it was a karrimor one.
Hope this helps

Thanks Gingerbear - llooked on site, particularly liked the cuddies, do you know what they are like at the shoulder? I don't want one that will swamp me (I'm not very tall!)

Hi riab! Two of my friends have freedom slings, one has used hers, the other hasn't. I had a little go and they seem quite good but I think I would need to have a little more practice to fully recommend! The friend who uses hers finds it really good.
