  1. put up high shelves above doors and get your books etc up there
  1. extra shelves inside kitchen cabinets
  1. swap coffee table for (attractive, wooden?) storage boxes
  1. underbed drawers
  1. rent a store room somewhere

Vacuum storage bags for storing bulky duvets etc from lakeland.

And if you're after things to store stuff in, this site is fab.

we are just moving to a small 2 bed house and we are having shelves put up in EVERY alcove! Built in shelves take surprsingly more than bookshelves and can be used for everything, photo albums, dvds. cds etc etc.

But I think the main thing we are doing is being ruthless with stuff. Just have a clear out and get rid of 50% of your stuff!

it sounds hard to do but is very liberating. Also, the house I've seen that has looked the most stunning and welcoming and TIDY belongs to my friend and her policy is to have very little in each room; in her living room she had TV unit, 2 sofas, side table and that was ALL. No bits n bobs at all, just some family photos on the wall...her house looks lovely....good luck!!!
