Does anyone use, or have any opinions of Ecover products?

Just wondering what your comments were on the Ecover products.

I've bought some handwash and I think it smells lovely and my hands are really soft. I'm wanting to do my bit for the environment and I'm thinking of starting to use the other products.

I use the washing up liquid and the surface cleaner. Both are pretty good.

The washing up liquid comes in a HUGE bottle and does the job well. The surface spray is not as effective as the chemically cleaners like Flash, but it still does a pretty good job and it doesn't have to be rinsed off, so saves a job .

I want to use the dishwasher detergent but haven't found a local stockist yet.

MegaLegs · 29/09/2006 10:14

I use most of their range but have also started using \link{http://www.naturalcollection.com/natural-products/Clear-Spring-Cleaning-Products.asp\ some of these too.
I think it's expat who is the true oracle on enviornmentally friendly cleaning products.

MegaLegs · 29/09/2006 10:14

try again

hulababy · 29/09/2006 10:15

We have the toilet cleaner. DH reckons it is not as good as the chemical cleaners. However it does a good enough job on the whole.

Furball · 29/09/2006 10:17

NomDePlume - you can get ecover dishwasher tablets in sainsburys.

I find the toilet cleaner has a really strong 'chemical' smell

CountessDracula · 29/09/2006 10:19

I use the washing up liquid and loo cleaner (which I don't think is very good tbh)

I used to use dishwasher tabs but they aren't so good either I sort of alternate between buying them and others

NomDePlume · 29/09/2006 10:19

I never venture to Sainsbury's. Our local one is in Fort Apache

Pollyanna · 29/09/2006 10:20

I use the floor cleaner -I think it is really good. I also have the multi surface cleaner, but you have to dilute this so it isn't as easy to use as the spray.

Has anyone tried the clothes cleaning products? (I think there is liquid and tablets?).

acnebride · 29/09/2006 10:20

SquirtEco and the washing up liquid are great. i like the handwash but don't buy it.

the toilet cleaner and laundry tablets/liquid IMO aren't great but I use them anyway. I've got used to the smell.

dishwasher tabs are OK. rinse aid is good and has a little clear plastic strip down the side so you can see how much is left. Very handy.

Piffle · 29/09/2006 10:20

I was not overly impressed with the toilet cleaner - weird smell not patch on weekly bleaching tbh but washing powder fabric softener adn washing up liquid are all as good as anything else IMO

PinkTulips · 29/09/2006 10:21

laundry bleach and fabric softener are both fab too

acnebride · 29/09/2006 10:22

our local posh corner shop sells a lot of the range. I try to buy them there as i want to encourage them but i do have to eat less as a result.

NomDePlume · 29/09/2006 10:23

I might try the laundry stuff. I use non-bio anyway, so I assume that non-bio is slightly better for the environment ?

JackieNo · 29/09/2006 10:24

I use the clothes washing liquid and like it. Have bought the hand wash, and really liked that too - it seemed to keep the basin cleaner as well, unexpected bonus.

Mala · 29/09/2006 10:39

Used to use the laundry detergent, but found it wasn't getting the clothes as clean-well mainly not removing the stains as well as my usual detergent.

tracyk · 29/09/2006 10:57

I use their liquid and sometimes bleach in the washing machine. I loooove the smell of the washing liquid. Does as good a job as any non bio imo.

donnie · 29/09/2006 11:07

I have used their laundry liquid for years , it is very effective and my 2 girls hav eeczema so it suits their skin. The washing up liquid is not so good though, not much lather and a bit weak. I also like their suf=rface spray cleaner.

and the bottled hand wash!

Zofloyya · 29/09/2006 11:11

Powder detergent is rubbish, liquid is very good I find. Also their product for washing delicates. None of that weirdy glow you get from detergents with optical brighteners, no hideous detergent stench. They do a stain remover which is also pretty effective.

Dishwasher tabs are excellent IMO. We don't have particularly hard water where I live, I'm wondering if that might be why others are less impressed.

doggiesayswoof · 29/09/2006 11:36

I use:
Laundry liquid - generally good, and more gentle for my skin allergies, but if there are any really bad stains it will not remove them as well as eg persil.
Laundry bleach - pretty good.
Multi-surface cleaner - I dilute it down in a spray bottle - much much cheaper than buying the squirteco.
Washing up liquid and toilet cleaner - both good (although agree the toilet cleaner has a weird smell).
Their stuff doesn't generally clean as well as products with loads of chemicals but - I'm happier without the chemicals.

FrannyandZooey · 29/09/2006 11:38

Toilet cleaner - crap, not worth using
Multi-surface cleaner - fab, makes floors shiny, smells great
Washing up liquid - fine
Laundry liquid - smells great, not too good for stains
Handwash - fine
Cream cleaner - fine

Flossam · 29/09/2006 11:39

my mum's drains got frequently blocked with these products (w/u liquid and laundry powder) had drains unblocked with chemicals several times which kind of defeated the object of less chemicals - no probs since changing products though.
