Does anybody know anything about the BMW Eco-pro mode?

I put my 3 series (2012) into this mode to save on petrol. I also keep the auto on/off on for the same reason.

Sometimes, I get an indicator on the dash to show that the on/off function is 'off', this happens randomly and I'm sure there's a reason for it.

Any advice would be gratefully rec'd.

Most stop/start systems will only operate when the engine is up to optimum temperature and (possibly, if measured) when the battery is healthily charged. I don't know anything specific about BMW's system though.

It's the battery. I find it happens when you've been stopping and starting a lot without the engine having a good run to recharge it. Also happens when you've stopped for a long time, and the engine will just kick back in. All perfectly normal...

You'll find that more often than not, the air conditioning is the cause - again perfectly normal as it needs the engine to be running at certain points in the air-conditioning cycle and it overrides the 'stop' sequence
