im on O2 and pay £20 a month and get 100 minutes and 250 texts.

it works out really well for me but i am due to upgrade soon

me23 · 28/09/2006 19:17

the one is was looking at is 35 a month up to 900 minutes and up to 1800 texts or a combo of both. the deal is offereing half price line rental for 14 months! so sounds tempting!

I use virgin - direct debit - only pay for calls and texts (free to other virgin users) no line rental etc...

hub2dee · 28/09/2006 19:24

No phone. Oh, the bliss.

do the orange racoon i think it is. its £35 a month and you get 500 mins to anyone and unlimited texts. They do all different tarrifs depending on whether you text or talk more.

I have a great tarriff on Vodafone: I pay £15 per month for 200 anytime mins and 250 texts. After 7pm and all weekend you only use first 3 mins of call then you can talk for an hour for free thus you never use up your mins (stop the clock this is called)

ITS GREAT

T-Mobile, Flext 20. I pay £20 per month for £34 worth of credit, to use as I want. Current special offer is £5 off the monthly charge.

I considered the Flext 35 but to be honest I never even use up the credit I have so why pay more?

I got rid of my contract with Orange when they refused to give me a free upgrade. I'd had a free phone every year since I first got the contract 7 years or so ago.

So, this year has been my first year as a payg customer. I've reverted back to one of my older phones, a Nokia which seems to keep its battery life for weeks on end and I spend approximately £5 a month. Texts are 3p at the moment. My DH switched at the same time as I did and he spent the grand total of £21 in a year on credit.

So, I've learnt that I'd never had a free upgrade in all those years. I was paying through the nose for line rental, seduced by "free" minutes and texts. Nothing in life is free!

PAYG - I reckon it is the way forward!

i have the lg chocolate, it is beautiful and sexy!!! im on 3 with 800 min cross network and cant remember amount of texts. its free 12 month contract, pay £35 per month but get cashback every three months

Blondilocks · 28/09/2006 20:55

Asking for your PAC code to move your number over to another provider usually helps if they won't give you a free upgrade.

I really like the Sony Ericsson phones at the moment. I'm only on PAYG but OH is on the £35 a month Orange one that's already been mentioned.

aghhhh im even more confused now! but saint george u are right about the flext 35 it sounds appealing but i wouldnt use it up either.

Im with o2 online. I got a free phone - a samsung p300 which is same size as a credit card and has a leather case with built in spare battery.
The tariff is £19 a month for 12 months for 500 txt messages and 50 mins talk time.
I would recommend o2 online, very easy to do and cheap.
I had a nokia before this phone with o2 and I wanted to upgrade my phone. They wanted to charge me £159 for the handset (even though handset was free to new customers). I said I would cancel my contract and then they offered phone to me for free! They said they would knock the cost of phone of my bill.
I haven't paid a single penny on my phone bill for about 6 months!

juicychops · 28/09/2006 21:13

im on t-mobile pay as you go. i spend about £5 a week credit and texts. i get free texts from 7pm friday until 7am monday, and for some reason for the last few weeks i have also been getting free texts after 7pm during the week too.

Then at the end of the month i get 20% of whatever credit i have put on my phone the previous month back

alexw · 28/09/2006 22:10

The virgin one is PAYG but with the convenience of dd -ie, no top ups...

MrsSpoon · 28/09/2006 22:14

I've got the T-mobile Flext 35. DH's business calls seem to take up our landline most of the time so I use this for all my calls. I think it is great. I call my Mum twice a week for at least an hour, make loads of smaller calls and a handful of texts and really struggle to use the call time up.
