We've got one, they're great. Really handy. Haven't slept on it but did lie on it to try it out - really comfy. The firmness depends on how much air you put in, you control it

Well, I don't have one, because I have slept on my friends one! If blown up completely I find it quite hard and uncomfortable. If not enough, bits of you are hitting the floor in the night. If you sleep on a double with someone else, you are jounced around when they turn over, and being plastic-y, it seems quite sweaty (even though it is covered with a sheet). Sorry to be so negative, but not a very good experience! On the plus side, they do stow away and they are affordable.

I need a firm mattress and have slept on an inflatable. It is horrid. It makes noise as you move and is nothing like a real bed. Fine when you are younger (ie in student days) but now - no way. Again sorry to be a negative voice on the subject. (and I'm not that old).

We have one (think it was from argos) which dh's brother sleeps on when he stays over about twice a week. He has a back problem but has no probs with the air bed.
We took it camping with us this year and to be honest i hated it. Would rather sleep on a duvet on the floor.

We have a ready bed which we use when we're camping and I have to have a firm mattress and the last time I used it I was 5 mths pg and it was fine.
