I've bought in a hurry from John Lewis and they were great. There's no need to go in, just phone them and customer services will get a sales person from the relevant department to phone you back, then just give him/her your budget and requirements (eg spin speed etc/max load) and she will tell you what's available.

If you're in London then Buyers and Sellers are very good, I haven't bought from them but I know people who have who've been very happy with price and service.

Hmm, Buyers and Sellers are 2-3 weeks too.

Have you actually phoned John Lewis and asked? When I bought a dishwasher they had it in stock and I think I had it within a week.

In the meantime do you have a laundry service nearby that will pick up and drop off?

I got one (can't remember the brand and am not going downstairs but it was the third cheapest)from Comet and it arrived two days later.

It was a zanussi
Got a better deal in the shop than on the site iirc.
