Has anyone got any ideas what i can buy my sister in law for chrismtas.

I started the christmas shopping yesterday.

She is very very awkward to buy for, and most often than not, I don't get a thank you, but, if I don't sort something out dh will not be happy.

She likes reading, doesn't drink or smoke, likes cross stitch and watching dvds.

I don't want to spend much on her as she is unappreciative, i would rather spend more money on people who appreciate things.

blimey christmas shopping already.

Get her a life. No just get her a chicken for the third world or whatever. That is my general present solution to peripheral family members.

SenoraPostrophe · 24/09/2006 16:28

a dvd?

What would I buy my SIL, a bullet but only if she promised to use it correctly.

a book token or voucher for a bookshop near her.

The Oxfam idea is an excellent one. Its what I'm buying for my brother this year (although I love him to bits, unlike you with your SIL!). You get a great card which is sent to the recipient with a message saying what you have bought and why it will help.

Sparkler1 · 24/09/2006 17:28

I'd go for the book token as well.

JackieNo · 24/09/2006 17:30

How about this so she can keep track of books she'd like to read?

Kidstrack · 24/09/2006 17:48

a dvd voucher and cross stich magazine!

what would i get my SIL for christmas... a hitman cause shes a bitch!

How about a subscription to a sewing mag?

milge · 24/09/2006 18:56

I'd buy my SIL a personality and a sense of humour. I think you should buy your SIL..a subscription to a cross stitch magazine.

I'm very impressed - I have 3 SILs - DH buys one of them the present (his sister) and fortunately the other two married into the right family and we just buy them wine.

I like the book journal idea - it's a bit different

SOD ALL ! ha ha lol

octavia · 24/09/2006 20:29

I'd buy mine a huge gobstopper,it serves 2 purposes

  1. when big it will stop her talking in her patronising fake scottish accent

2.when small it will hopefully go down the wrong way and bloomin choke her {grin]

a backbone, personality and integrity.
