Car advice - 3dr or 5dr?

Hello,
Am thinking of getting a new car. I've always had a 5-dr car, but now my children are older and don't need help with seatbelts I was wondering about saving a few quid and getting a 3-dr one.
But I was thinking that maybe a 3-dr car is not as safe in an emergency, as it's hard to get out of the back?
Would be grateful for anyone's opinions on 3dr v 5dr.
Many thanks.

Would you really save that much? Personally would never go for a 3 dr unless there was ever only going to me in it!! Way too much hassle getting in and out. Also the seat belts on the front are harder to get hold of because of where they tend to be attached. If you ever suffer from bad neck, back or shoulders etc its a nightmare!

Hi I have a 3 door at the moment, a Seat Ibiza. I find it a pain when putting ds into the car seat, but thats probably the only thing regarding access.
Also 2 door cars do tend to have wider doors so can be a pain in car park too.
Never noticed that seat belts are a problem in the front.

I think I would be tempted by a 4 dr next time round.

Regarding point about emergency - my aunt said she would never have a 2 door as she had an accident with her dd in the rear and struggled to get her out.
I have never worried about this.
