More boring bathroom questions.........are those baths with water jets in a PITA in the long run?

Dh would like one (he has a bad shoulder from a v old injury), but I'm thinking they could be a hassle - eg stuff getting stuck in the jets, mould building up inside etc.

Anyone had one for a few years - what are they like to maintain?

This old thread might help a bit.

Our one has a blower so pipes are blown dry after every use.

hub2dee · 23/09/2006 11:57

The machines are usually v. v. reliable and cleaning isn't a big chore IMHO.

careful puff he'll be trying to get you to try out his bath soon

moondog · 23/09/2006 12:01

Puff, they make a fuck of a noise.Impossible to imagine something less soothing.

Our one in Turkey sucked up ds's cardigan and stinks as well.

OOh,shoulder pain.I'm a fellow sufferer.Has he seen a physio?

hub2dee · 23/09/2006 12:43

Yeah, they are noisy, but you can insulate around it somewhat to reduce this.

Twiglett, it was supposed to be our dirty secret, my powerful jet.

puff · 23/09/2006 21:54

righty - ho!

I'm assuming the quieter they are, the more expensive they are!

I've already chosen a bath (plain, no fancy jets bath) big enough for two , but it don't come with jets so I'm trying to talk dh out of the idea !

YES, our bath has them in and they are terrible, noisy, break down at the drop of a hat and they are a bugger to clean.

When we have the bathroom done we are getting a p shaped bath.

Milge · 23/09/2006 21:58

My parents have one - its a bit like being in the middle of a cement mixer imho. Really very noisy. Plus, lots of minging old bathwater collects in the pipes, so it can whiff... Would not be in my top "100 things I would like in my house", but each to their own.

OK, we are having ordinary bath - thanks for all the input .
