Which pram for 12mth old and newborn???

I have a marco sky which is fab but with dd being so much younger than ds was and will have to walk a lot more when db arrives I am looking for my last pram that will do for the two
#younger ones for at least 18mths. Needs to
recline in both seats
#prefer not to be side by side as lot of shop doorways around here are narrow
#be able to fit easily in scenic boot but give a little room for other shopping

So throw your suggestions at me please.

I also need to buy a new pram, same age children as yourself, I am planning to get a Jane Powertwin , You can carry a newborn in a front facing car seat and the older child in a standard recliner in front than as the newborn gets older change to two recliners it is pricey but I like the fact that my newborn will be able to see me

I have a Bertini shuttle with a toddler seat - its great and flexible as you can use with or without the toddler seat. Only prob is that the baby can't sit up fully with the toddler seat on (although they can sit a bit - we are still using it with a 2 yo and a 6 month old, but will move to a buggy board soon so baby can see a bit more. Its also fairly heavy, but I guess all 'doubles' are. Also, the toddler seat weight is only up to 13 or 15 kg (can't remember) but my 2 year old only weighs 12.5kg. Apart from those things its great - nice big wheels so good for off road, amd steers well.

oh bother - sorry, just read OP properly. The toddler seat does not recline.

cheeseandonion · 19/09/2006 07:27

biglips · 19/09/2006 07:34

I have a jane powertwin (with a 20 month old and 10 week old) both seats recline, it's a bit pricey but I love it!

Nemo1977 · 19/09/2006 13:07

must admit have looked at the jane powertwin and it looks fab but have never spent so much money on a pram..lol I have hinted to dh about it aswell but will basically be a miracle..lol

BLs thanks for that the kidzkargo tandem looks good..wonder if could actually find one in rl to look at.

I'd do a search on the kidz cargo I read lots of bad reviews when I was searching for a tandem. I had to wait for dh to be in the dog house before I could bribe him to buy my powertwin

accessorizequeen · 19/09/2006 20:25

What about a phil n teds e3 ? Lots of people on here rave about them. I've seen several out n about, seem ideal when you've 2 v.close together & quite manoevreable. Meet the rest of your criteria, I think.

I've got a kids kargo tandem and tbh it's a bit of a nightmare. The back wheels are still quite wide compared to a single - wider than the seat bit so I constantly crash the wheels into stuff. The front wheel swivels which is great but it's almost impossible to control when you've got a heavyish toddler in the front seat. The back seat does recline pretty much flat but the hood is so badly designed that it flops onto the baby and you have to constantly flick it back into shape. The front seat reclines but isn't tall enough to support a toddlers neck so although they could lie back, their head would flop. There's no real leg room in either seat - the rear one doesn't drop down far enough to fit the baby's legs under the front seat and the front seat sits right over the wheel so their legs get knocked as you go round corners.

From my experience I wouldn't so near it but I can't think of a tandem that a young toddler could sleep in the front of. All the front seats seem to be too low across the back rest.

I've got a Toys R Us Twin Runner which is a side by side and my friend has a maclaren Twin Traveller and we have only ever come across one doorway that we couldn't get through. They both go through my front door and mine goes through all my internal doors too. They do have the advantage of both children being able to lie down and talk to each other but I know why the width is an issue.

My current favourite which I am trying to convince dh is ESSENTIAL for when the new baby arrives is this . It doesn't seem too wide but apparently it needs a big boot as you have to take the seat units off to fold it. Haven't seen one for real yet - still persuading dh!!

Nemo1977 · 19/09/2006 20:41

looked at the E3 but as lockets has said I have also seen my friends dd leaning forward to grab the wheels etc and as a child had a bad experience with a bike wheel and my toe so dont fancy reliving via a finger event and the wheels..lol

Had read on another thread recently that new e3 has wheels covered so children can't hurt themselves if that is only objection. Or something. there is large e3 fan club on here who could say for sure.

Stiglet · 19/09/2006 22:39

Jané all the way - my toddler happily sleeps in it reclined tell dh they have great re-sale value too... I hate [ducks] the E3 and the fact that one child can't see. If you're looking for a budget tandem the duet lite has pretty good reviews!
