Ford Focus or a Nissan Note, or something else?

We are looking for a new (well new for us!) car at the moment. We have a VW Polo at the moment which I love but it is small and getting old. We want something newer, 2011 + and we want more space, especially more boot space. Current front runners are a Ford Focus or a Nissan Note.

Our budget is about £9k. Any other suggestions or comments on the Focus or Note would be brilliant, thanks :)

I have a Ford Focus & it really is a lovely car. One really good thing is because it's been the top selling family car for over a decade, the replacement parts tend to be pretty cheap. The downside is my husband is forever trying to get into other people's cars, as so many look similar to ours. (At least, that's his excuse!)

I've just switched from a Focus to a Golf. It is much better except for the boot space.

I've had both and liked them both.
If I had to choose I would pick a focus though. Try not get a basic model though, the price difference is tiny but very worth it, even if you have to get one a few months older.

I love my focus.

I had a focus for 7 years. It was great. Never let me down and cost me nothing in repairs. Just general servicing and tyres.

I then had a c max for another 7 years. I loved it. It had a higher driving position which I really liked.

When I bought the c max, I nearly bought a Nissan note, but I found it small inside and it had lots do cubby holes but in practical terms I would probably have filled them with crap.

The cmax, again never let me down. I sold it to a friend who is still driving it around with no issues.

I now have a Hyundai ix35. I love it. Again it has the higher driving position. Was good value and has a 5 year warranty. Lots of nice extras included like heated seats

Seems like the Focus is more popular. We are not in a huge rush to buy so will have a bit more of a think. My DH prefers the Focus but I am not sure but not sure why!
