Now what should I buy?

I want fun things that will make my house look like a Scandinavian children's book.

Happy Birthday FJtheBE!

Looks nicer on the screen than it does in RL (the plastic table runner)

Go on. tell us what you're looking for and I'll see what I can come up with - bear in mind that my speciality is textiles though

Btw IKEA on a saturday, very scarey! Which one?

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 16/09/2006 14:42

yay, a visitor!

not today, sadly, last week

am really just looking to generally sort my home out...dunno how, really, but I like funky scandinavian stuff and have a smallish amount of b'day money.

am going after 5 so think will be ok? Cardiff.

I don't know if it'll be the same as mine (Croydon) but we tend to have a quietish period between 5.30 and around 8.30, it all goes bananas from then until 10.30/11. and then it's fairly quiet until 12 when we close?

What do you want to do? Change the look - throws, pictures, vases, curtains etc or hide things with storage? The 'look' atm is either lots of bright acidic colours or a kind of boudoir theme, lots of purple, burnt oranges, deep colours with diferent textured fabrics (called Andrea for some strange swedish reason)

no no no, stay far far away from ikea.
if you have birthday money, spend it onl yourself. get some mmakeup, or clothes, aor a bag. or a massage.
not a table runner

Which one are you going to? There's also an Ilva near the Ikea in Thurrock which I'm planning to visit one day (without children). The catalogue makes it look like a Danish version of Ikea, so everything is slightly more Danish (solid) looking.

Haha - I went to IKEA on my birthday last week!! Get yourself a 95p cooked breakfast to celebrate!

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 16/09/2006 21:01

well I have bought

some pop up laundry hampers
2 throws to use as curtains (it will be nicer than it sounds, its that or hemming
400 million washing up brushes
some retro fabric for 1.50 per metre that looked better in the fluorescent lighting
an easel and too much drawing stuff for the kids
a wooden chair for dd
um...some more stuff....

and have spent £80 HTF did I spend that much?
