6 month old dd in 9kg+ carseat

Our little girl is 6 months and weighs 9kg already. She weighs enough to go into a new forward facing car seat, but should she be older for any reason e.g. able to sit upright unaided? Or will the carseat support her?
Thanks

She should be able to sit up unsupported and have good head control.

Which carseat is she in at the moment?
Group 0+ seats are safe till 13kg (they reckon that's about 15 months) so there is absolutely no need to move her yet.

Too little yet.

Wait till she can sit unaided for at least half an hour and her head doesn't get wobbly.

She should be at least 9mo and probably closer to a year.

I'll leave her in her 0+ then. it's just that she hates not to see what's going on and I think she finds being in her back facing seat frustrating. I'll have to invest in some distracting toys. Can anyone recommend anything she'll love to look at?

Physically her head will still be too heavy to be supported by her neck in the event of an accident forward facing and result in potentially fatal injuries. Wait as long as possible. See here for more advice as to when to switch.

Ours had a mini activity centre which could be attached to the harness (Clippsafe toy ties are great) including a mirror and sliding/opening type things. Came from a £shop !

dd2 was in a forward facing car seat from a young age, she met the weight limit, was crawling at 6months, sitting well, etc. her head also came right over the top of the backwards car seat.

Personally I prefer lil ones to be rearfacing for as long as possible....so, we bought a Britax Firstclass....which is a stage 0-1 cardseat, so, can be used from Birth to ca.4 years, and we have no regretts
interesting read
