and i can't find any!

its the 12 cm depth that is causing the problem.

I need them to put my plants on in the window, so that they will grow and so my neighbours will stop peering in.

internet/ebay fine, but i can also trek up the high street...

anyone seen one?

dunno if I am just being dim here, but i cannot find one anywhere

Go to a proper timber merchant and buy some wood and ask them to cut it with their bandsaw or whatever.

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 15/09/2006 20:06

that is a fine idea.

yes.

i could do that.

flatpack would be even better though as i am useless.

Ikea maybe?
Filly, there is a perfectly good thread with your name on it...

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 15/09/2006 20:32

at "Ikea, maybe". Or thereabouts...No they do NOT do my shelves. i think I might have to MAKE them and that is not right.

Do you really need 1m wide x 1 metre deep x 12 cm thick, Fj????

A nice net curtain would be much less trouble

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 15/09/2006 20:36

Hmmmm

I am beginning to agree

in nice dirty off white

with a tatty hem

mmmm, luverly

CAN NO ONE HELP?

OP posts:
UrsulatheSeaWitch · 15/09/2006 20:40

But why do you need 1 meter deep???

The DIY stores have the width and the thickness but not that depth.

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 15/09/2006 20:41

because it has to balance on my window sill.

like a greenhouse only inside.

it does make sense

OP posts:
FillyjonktheBananaEater · 15/09/2006 20:42

oh no no no no no, not 1 metre deep, 12 cm deep, 1 metre high and 1 metre wide

OP posts:
UrsulatheSeaWitch · 15/09/2006 20:43

Oh, it's a bay window 1m wide x 1m deep? OK, the windowsill accounts for one shelf, but where will the next one go? Are you going to balance them on bricks?

UrsulatheSeaWitch · 15/09/2006 20:44

1 metre high??? You mean you want a backless bookcase?

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 15/09/2006 20:45

yes

to put plants on

cos otherwise i couldn't see through it to the window,

OP posts:
UrsulatheSeaWitch · 15/09/2006 20:47

Ohhhh - when you said shelves I thought you meant shelves - bits of wood, you know.

So do you need precisely 1m x 1m?

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 15/09/2006 20:48

yup....

OP posts:
UrsulatheSeaWitch · 15/09/2006 20:49

I will have a look for you my dear (now I've got my head round what you're after!)

UrsulatheSeaWitch · 15/09/2006 20:57

This is about high enough, but only 70cm wide - but you could stand it on a plank sitting on the windowsill and then grow things out of the side? I have a couple like this and they are sturdy and very useful.

UrsulatheSeaWitch · 15/09/2006 21:00

Oh it's double depth though - sorry, didn't check that.

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 15/09/2006 21:21

aw, thanks for trying, ursuala

i may have to make them myself, i suppose

tommorrow night's challenge will be to find an online timber merchant that cuts wood to size.

but now I'm going to bed.

still...21 messages..not bad for a fruitless thread....

shelfstore - I remember this company from way back!

Shelves start at 14cm deep - is that OK? and width can be 100cm. Height is 78cm or 118cm.

You need to download pdf documents to look at the details.

I am still looking

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 15/09/2006 22:14

whoah

that is exactly what i am looking for

fantastic

ursuala-you are a complete star! thanks!

OP posts:
UrsulatheSeaWitch · 15/09/2006 22:16

Oh good! Should I stop looking?

(It doesn't say for plants though [worried])

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 15/09/2006 22:30

no, stop, that is fantastic, am so impressed, thanks

I'm sure I can put plants on them...I don't think I need special plant shelves or anything.
