iPod-in-car help

DH has traded my car today for a more modern one. I used to be able to use my iPod in my old car with the cassette thingy (technical term!), but the new car only has a CD player.

Can I really not play my iPod in the car anymore?

hmmm. legally, no. However you can buy one of these which will let you tune your iPod into the car radio. Have heard mixed reports - from rave reviews to a bit irritating - but, like I said, not technically legal, although I think they are going to be legalised at some point.

we've been using an iTrip for about 2 yrs now (we are early adopters of all things Apple), it is easy to use and works well. It has just been approved for use in Europe and is expecting to be approved her this fall. Apparently it didn't get into the agenda for the gov't at the right time for approval at the same time as europe.

Article on approval here BBC report on iTrip

That's interesting, twocats, thank you. Why is it not strictly legal? What's the difference with the iPod radio thing (gosh, I'm so technical aren't I?!)? So I can't just play my music and downloads from my iPod?

We have an i Trip. I think not strictly okay as technically you are broadcasting without a license, as the car in the traffic next to you could tune in to your iPod too. But we have used ours successfully without incident for a while now.
