Fiat punto and oil leaks!

I know this is a long shot but does anyone know anything about oil leaks in cars???

I've got an 07 plate fiat grande punto. 3 weeks ago massive oil leak while driving lights came on pulled onto drive and big puddle of oil under car. Towed to garage and paid for new oil filter and oil change.

Last week small spots of oil on the drive with no warning lights on. Back in garage (a different one) and sump something or other needs replacing plus oil change.

That was 2 days ago have driven car and smelt a burning smell and just found big puddle of oil again!

Rang garage oh pop it in in the morning we'll take a look.

I'm 250 quid down and still got an oil leak! I'm getting stressed out with it all has anyone else had this kind of carry on? I'm confused?

Could be a split on the oil pipe itself. Hate to break it to ya but fiat have a rep for ongoing issues - theyre known as Fix It Again Tomorrow in the motoring world.

Yeah I've heard they aren't the greatest!

It's been in 2 garages, would they not spot a split in the pipe?

I'm getting annoyed as it seems like trial and error, yes the filter and sump might of been worn and needed replacing but it's clearly not what is causing the problem!

I'm worried this is going to continue with me shelling out cash until they fix the right thing!

I hate cars.

You'd think it would be easy to spot a serious oil leak but sometimes when everything is covered in oil it can be difficult. I would be getting them to have the underside of the engine degreased and steam cleaned then it shouldn't be too hard to find. There aren't that many places that a fairly simple engine can leak from. Oil filter, sump, sump gasket, head gasket, rocker cover gasket, camshaft seals, crankshaft seals would be the main ones off the top of my head and some of those should be blatantly obvious.

Fiat used to have a rep for substandard cars, but the Grande Punto was the start of a much improved car and a much improved company.

If we are getting into the ridiculous acronyms banded around then you can say the same for most marques..... Fix Or Repair Daily? It's all bollocks OP.
